Dr. Brooke Smars grew up outside of Rochester, Minnesota and earned her undergraduate degree in Biology and Norwegian (despite being born to a Swedish immigrant) from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. She went on to graduate from Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, Nebraska and completed an Advanced Education and General Dentistry residency at the University of California - Los Angeles. She returned to her home state of Minnesota in 2013 after convincing her husband that “there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing.”
Dr. Smars has been practicing in the Twin Cities Metro since moving back to Minnesota and committed to continuing West Lake Dental's 100+ year legacy of providing excellent dental care for the community. She is an active member of the American Dental Association, Minnesota Dental Association, and the Minneapolis District Dental Society and strives to constantly advance her knowledge and patient care through dental study clubs and seminars. She believes strongly in providing quality, comprehensive dentistry in a friendly and comfortable environment while promoting good oral and overall health.
Dr. Smars and her husband live here in Minneapolis with their two daughters, Ronja and Ravelle and their dog Jovi. In her spare time, she enjoys hanging out with family and friends, running and biking around the Minneapolis Chain of Lakes, reading, traveling, snowboarding and enjoying the outdoors (no matter the weather).
